What Are Good Beginner’s Accounting Books For Academic Purpose In Canada?

I am a university student majoring in accounting in Canada. Problem is I never took accounting in high school. It’s not necessary but I think I need some knowledge in accounting. Can you recommend me any book?

  1. If you are at university, there is a basic accounting course offered. Find it and get the reading list. The main textbook will surely be available used on Amazon.ca
Failing this, Accounting for Dummies is pretty good:http://www.amazon.com/Accounting-Dummies…

  2. I would recommend Accounting Vol. 1 for a good start on accounting theory in Canada.
It can be found on amazon.ca here:

I used this book for an intro to financial accounting class and found it to be very straight forward and helpful.
